Innovations and Trends in Wireless Technology

Technological advancements have shown tremendous results in the field of wireless technology. Innovations in wireless technology in recent years has provided the world with more sophisticated products and usage of those products.

Wireless technology has enhanced the tech-savvy individual's experiences and directed their vision to a totally new dimension. After computers and other related devices were included in the day-today routine and working habits of individuals and groups, there became a need to setup some mode of communication between them. Data transfer between two computers became a necessity, both at individual as well as at an organizational level. It was the time, when network was introduced, which made the communication between two devices possible.

Initial years of network were the wired ones; the one which makes use of wires to setup a connection between two or group of devices. It was quite simple during the initial stages of deployment but as the need for networks and other related technologies advanced, wired networks suddenly became complex and clumsy.

To overcome complex topologies and connections, wireless networks were introduced. Wireless technology soon gained the approval from the users and was deployed at a commercial level. Wireless networks removed the clumsy nature of wired networks and provided mobility within the network. With the passage of time, this technology has made quite a considerable advancement in its area of application and at the technology level as well. Some trends, discussed below, have made and will continue making an impact at for the users of mobile & wireless technology:

Introduction of 4G: High frequency carriers is what to expect next, in mobile phone telephony. Wireless technology has advanced to a level that high speed mobile broadband connection can be established in order to transfer data at very high speeds. The speed or bandwidth availability for 4G/LTE is supposed to be 1Gbps for stationary devices or devices moving at slow speed and up-to 100Mbps for devices moving at high speed.

IP telephony: For Mobile communication, which works on GSM/CDMA technologies for voice transfer, IP telephony is supposed to be deployed soon for communication purposes. IP standards will push the voice over IP or VoIP to provide more qualitative communication facility to its users.

NFC: NFC is another add-on in wireless network for facilitating machine to machine communication processes. NFC or Near-field Communication allows users to transfer information between devices including financial information as well, which describes its open yet secure nature of communication. Being a short-range technology, NFC uses 13.65 MHz radio frequency which permits users to communicate with a 'tap'.

Enterprise mobility: Its the blend of wireless technology and cloud computing which enables organizations to allows its workforce to work from remote locations. While sitting outside the boundaries of the organization, employees can complete pending tasks and communications with each other which is another technological advancement of wireless technology.

Some other changes like location identification using GPS to track the device location, asset tracking to find out the detailed information about a product, inductive or wireless charging which enables a device to charge an electronic device with a remote trigger etc. have also been introduced. The last decade has seen a substantial amount of change and we can only imagine what the next decade has in store for us.
