"Our study found a link between low levels of vitamin D in childhood with increased atherosclerosis in adulthood. These results remained the same even though researchers have take into account several factors that cause cardiovascular problems such as blood pressure, diet, smoking habits, physical activity, obesity, socioeconomic level, and the other, "said Mark Juonala, MD, PhD, of the University of Turku Finland.

These results were obtained researchers after analyzing 2,148 participants aged three to 18 years. Furthermore, participants were analyzed again his condition after 30 to 45 years old. It is known that participants who had low vitamin D levels as a child at greater risk for cardiovascular disease in adulthood.
